Stellarton Town Square, which opened in 2016, marks a significant chapter in the town’s history.
The square, a joint venture between the Sobey family and the Sobey Foundation, occupies the historic site of the first Sobeys store.

The square serves as a multifunctional community space, featuring a lawn that doubles as a play area, performance space, and a winter rink. It also includes a water plaza and an innovative play area with sculptural elements for children to climb and slide, blending recreation with art. It was envisioned as a way to revitalize the streetscape and provide a vibrant centre for community engagement.

The Square is not just a tribute to the Sobey family’s roots but also a commitment to the town’s future. It stands as a symbol of community, history, and progress, embodying the spirit of northern Nova Scotia and the legacy of one of its most prominent families.
